Jay Boisseau is an experienced, recognized leader and strategist in advanced computing technologies, with over 25 years in academia and industry. Jay is CEO and co-founder (June 2014) of Vizias, a team of professionals with expertise in high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI), technology community building, and technology outreach & event planning. Current and recent partners include Google, Qvelo, Tabor Communications, Dell Technologies, and Data Vortex, as well as supporting the Austin AI Alliance and the Austin Forum on Technology & Society.

Jay is the founder (2023) and executive director of the Austin AI Alliance. He provides vision, strategy, and operational leadership to the Alliance, and works closely with the board of directors to ensure clear articulation of the mission and strategic objectives to guide collaborative projects and events. He initiates and plans events and projects to achieve these objectives and recruits new member organization and AI experts to join and collaborate. He also plans and runs the public meetings and works with the community to understand the role of AAIA and the importance of AI overall, and to Austin.

Jay is also the executive director and founder (2007) of The Austin Forum on Technology & Society, which is now the leading monthly technology outreach and engagement event in Austin--and now attracts national and international attendees online. The Austin Forum is one of the pillars of the Austin tech scene, providing connections to information, ideas, collaborations, and community overall.

Jay previously worked for Dell Technologies (September 2014-April 2023) as an HPC & AI Technology Strategist to develop HPC and AI strategies and new solutions for use by companies, government organizations, and universities. Jay evaluated new technologies, worked with strategic customers on their workload solution designs, and helped develop both optimal current solutions and potential future solutions. Jay also led and greatly expanded the Dell HPC Community, a global online community.

Before Vizias and Dell, Jay created and led the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at The University of Texas at Austin (2001-14). Under Jay’s leadership, TACC deployed numerous world-class computing systems for U.S. open scientific research, including two systems ranked in the Top 10 in the world, and developed new programs and tools to enable thousands of researchers to accomplish more with these powerful technologies. His previous positions were at the San Diego Supercomputer Center and the Arctic Region Supercomputing Center. He received his doctorate in astronomy from UT Austin, and his undergraduate degree in astronomy and physics from the University of Virginia.

Outside of the tech world, Jay is the lead owner for the best damn neighborhood bar in downtown Austin, Remedy. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Austin and enjoys community service. He loves great food and whiskey, movies and film festivals, and planning technology communities and social events for friends and colleagues. Jay also loves working out but has a long way to go to become Thor. Most importantly, Jay has one perfect daughter who just graduated with a double major in theater and psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
