Jimmy Pike is a Senior Fellow Technologist and System Architect, contributing to strategy, solutions design, and Vizias partner and customer consultations in HPC, AI, and other areas of advanced computing. He is a well-known system architect and technology professional with over 47 years of industry experience, and possesses comprehensive expertise in high-performance computing, machine learning (more recently AI), large-scale computing, system architecture, and the system changes required for digital transformation.
Jimmy retired as a Dell SVP/Senior Fellow in 2022 after more than 20 years with the company, including numerous product accomplishments, papers, presentations, and 70 patents. Jimmy served for over a decade as one of the two top-ranking members leading the Dell Technical Leadership Community and is considered A founding member and Chief Architect of Dell’s Data Center Solutions Group, which revolutionized Dell's hyper-scale business and created Dell’s low PUE/modular data centers with advanced liquid and free-air cooling. Jimmy has also served in numerous technical and executive roles prior to Dell at Intel, AT&T, Harris, and NCR, and is known for his pioneering work in symmetric multiprocessing and parallel systems including Intel, AMD, and ARM-based platform with various GPUs.
Jimmy has continued his quest for lifelong learning through Vizias and through his part-time consulting company, TASK Consultancy. He continues to explore the boundaries of what is possible for both large and small platforms. Jimmy is a 1977 electrical engineering graduate of Mississippi State University, and maintains his southern accent and warm personality while sharing his decades of wisdom and experience freely.
